Acupuncture helps relieve back pain

Acupuncture is recommended by the World Health Organization for numerous conditions, including back pain.  Almost all of us, at some point, will find ourselves afflicted with back pain.  Many of us would like to avoid using pain medication or are unable to get relief from even some of the most powerful pain medicines out there.  Acupuncture has proven itself to be a safe and effective way to alleviate back pain caused by sprains, muscle strains, minor injuries, or a pinched or irritated nerve.  Ideal for pregnancy-related back pain where drugs are not an option and as a bonus mommy and baby benefit in other ways from an acupuncture treatment.

Acupuncture for allergies

Do you suffer from allergies?  Tired of taking medication year after year that only covers up the symptoms?  There is another way.  Acupuncture has been proven to combat allergies by stimulating the production of interleukin which blocks the release of histamines.  It can open your sinuses, take away those red and watering eyes, and clear your head.  Best of all, unlike allergy medication, it keeps on working after the series of treatments is over.  As a bonus, since acupuncture gets to the root cause you will experience seemingly unrelated benefits to boot, such as a night of good sleep, a sense of calm, and a stronger immune system.

Acupuncture and headaches

If you suffer from chronic headaches including migraines, acupuncture could help decrease the frequency and severity of those headaches.  My mom suffers from migraine headaches and as a student living from home I would often wake to find her miserably nursing her coffee or possibly skipping her coffee altogether when they were really bad.  I would give her a treatment right then and there at the kitchen table, gently inserting a couple of needles in her feet and in her non-coffee-cup holding hand.  The pain would ease while the needles were inserted and after an hour or so she reported sometimes a complete lifting of the headache without the residual fog she often got with Aspirin.

Acupuncture and weight loss

None of us are immune to concerns about weight and body physique.  Calories in and calories out has everything to do with whether we lose or gain weight, but does not address the emotional and hormonal causes of changes in weight.  Acupuncture brings the body into balance by affecting the nervous system and endocrine system which is in charge of our hormones.  Acupuncture regulates metabolism and helps us get a good night's sleep, both factors in weight management.  If issues with chronic pain are preventing you from being active, acupuncture can help you achieve the mobility necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle which includes physical activities.
