At The Ottawa Acupuncture Clinic, located in downtown Ottawa we offer the following services:
Acupuncture is a time-tested therapy used to promote health and treat sickness by balancing the body’s energies. This is done by inserting fine, virtually painless, single use needles into specific acupuncture points where they remain as the patient relaxes for up to 45 minutes. This drug-free therapy can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine.
Emily Dunn, is a registered acupuncturist trained in classical acupuncture and dry needling as well as Dr. Tan's Balance Method and the Master Tong acupuncture point system.
Cupping therapy is a form of therapy where glass cups are suctioned onto the body and left in place or “moved around” with oil acting and feeling like a deep tissue massage. This therapy increases blood flow to the area, helps to pull out toxins from the body and relaxes the muscles. This makes it an effective therapy to treat muscle knots, cellulite, colds, digestive issues and to promote relaxation.
Acupressure & Tui Na Massage
Acupressure and Tui Na Massage work on acupuncture points and meridians to free energetic blockages and promote circulation. A great choice for those wary of needles. Pressure is applied with the hands, elbows or with specially designed tools.
Auricular therapy or ear acupuncture involves stimulating points in the ear using very small needles or tiny seeds that are taped to the ear.
Auricular therapy is used for all the same conditions as regular acupuncture. It is especially popular for weight loss, smoking cessation, sleep and stress.
Heat Therapy & Moxa
Sometimes we use heat to help restore balance in the body. This can be done with the classical approach known as moxibustion which uses moxa or mugwort to gently introduces heat into the meridian. The TDP Infrared lamp emits minerals as well as heat warming the body and increasing blood flow.
